Letter from the President

Stay in the Present!...As you can imagine taking on a project the size of our shelter is pretty big.  Trust me, I have had opportunity to worry and fret about numerous things on a daily basis.  Most projects that I have been a part of typically take longer than expected and cost more than projected. This project is no different.  As I am given the opportunity to worry and I entertain different thoughts and whisper a little prayer to God about my concern, He consistently asks me a very simple question. “Do you need this thing you are worrying about today?”  My reply is usually no.  Then He proceeds to ask me, do you need anything today?  My thoughts go to the fact that I have food, my home, clothes, my family and friends are well, my husband is good and I have money in my bank account.  So my response back is no, I don’t need anything today and before I can start with but…, He interrupts my thoughts and says, "we’re good then."

Matthew 6:25-34 talks about this very thing.  Verse 33 & 34 says, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things (which God already knows we need), will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.”  Stay in the present, stay in “today”.

Our “job” is to fellowship with God and enjoy Him.  He will absolutely take care of all of the rest! Love you all!  Trust Jesus!

Building Update

Things are steadily moving along.  We needed to take a tree down and that happened a couple of weeks ago.  As soon as it has all been cleaned up and hauled away our playground equipment will be installed.  Insulation and drywall will begin in a few weeks and then we will be onto the interiors of the building.  Please continue to pray for safety and provision on our project.

We will be having an open house as soon as the building is complete.  Most likely mid September.

Collaborative Bed Drive Challenge

“Together” Sunshine Place and Shelter from the Storm Ministries are hosting an online dollar drive on  Look for DONATE NOW, then Bed Challenge.  “Families, kids, neighbors, co-workers and more are encouraged to team up with four other folks to each donate $25 to Sunshine Place.  Each mattress costs $130 – so five of you working together will get what we need,” said Lisa Wilkins, also known as The Bed Lady for Sunshine Place.  Working together as a community, we hope to raise $20,000 in two weeks to help the Shelter buy up to 30 mattresses and an additional 50-80 that Sunshine Place needs.

Two Ways to Donate: There are two simple ways to donate any dollar amount to the “Get’em off the Floor Challenge.  First, go to the and donate online via a credit card.  Or simply, mail or drop off a check payable to Sunshine Place, with “Beds” in the notes section to:  Sunshine Place, PO box 307, Sun Prairie.  The Sunshine Place street address is 18 Rickel Road.
